Description
The RD1-XX is a family of remote gamma radiation detectors designed to connect to the Charthouse ARM-1000 Area Monitor Display Unit, providing remote gamma dose rate readings at distance from the display. Two detector types are available: the RD1-6, an energy-compensated Geiger Mueller detector, and the RD1-8, a Pressurised Ion Chamber detector covering a wide range of gamma energy detection capability.
Both models serve as direct technology replacements for the now-obsoleted Thermo Scientific DA 1-6 and DA 1-8 detectors. When combined with the ARM-1000, the RD1-XX replicates the legacy form and functional performance of the Thermo Scientific RMS-3 / CoDA system — with minimal change costs, streamlined calibration, and no retraining requirements for instrumentation staff.
The RD1-XX series uses a common engineering design across the entire detector family, resulting in common system components and minimised spare part requirements. Similar physical characteristics and mounting requirements to the legacy DA detectors mean field replacement requires minimal site preparation — a direct swap with no structural modifications. Quick Connect / Disconnect connectors provide easy plug-in to the ARM-1000, and the option for an integrated remotely activated analogue check source supports routine source checking without requiring detector removal.
